All about creating with children

For seven years, I have been creating with children in a free flowing way, combining my good hands and an endless interest in materials, wood, paper, fabrics, metal, straw, leather, earth and ceramics… With the children I work with, we go on a creative journey:

They speak their ideas and dreams, and we brainstorm together, a project is born.

We work together looking at the technical side of the project, the children share their inventive ways of solving problems and I share my understanding and knowledge.  Every project has it's very own and personal way.

The project is in the works, the children sink in their world and I am by their side for help, and support. Sometime the project is aborted on the way, we meet and discuss to understand what happened. Sometimes it was just not meant to be.

Most times the creation is born and you can feel the smile in the child's heart.

This is what I most like about working with children, helping them bring their dreams to reality without limits, leaving all the doors open and learning in the process.

The Tzaaron

I had a tzaaron at home, in benyamina, for two years with 15 children from age 4 to 8.

One of our projects was building playful giant sculptures in the playground were the children could climb and sit on them. Together we build 5 sculptures: The giraffe with a flower in her mouth, the snake, the king lion, the snail and the elephant. The ideas where all born from the children, they knew exactly how the sculptures should look like. They drew the rough. We then build together a wooden structure from recycled wood, covered it with wire sheets and started the concrete covering, layers of yutta dipped in white concrete.  It was quite hard work but the children were very motivated and we succeeded going through every stage. Three weeks of intensive work went by and finally we got to the painting stage, this was most fun. I gave the children a free hand in their painting choices and it came out so colorful and full of joy. When all was dry and finished, we invited the parents for an outdoor exhibition, the children were so happy and proud of their work!!!

Meitar School,

I have been working in Meitar School for the past five years, in charge of the arts and crafts studio, school project and exhibitions. Meitar is a very creative school where the children learn that every dream is possible. Projects came both from children's ideas as well as the teachers and together we make it happen.

This summer, I am opening a summer camp around the puppets world. I am looking to work with a small group of children that will enable us to sink in this world together in a very personal manner. The puppets world is most often the expression of our intimate feeling, giving us the opportunity to express them through a external puppet. It's creative, relates to a wide range of materials and technical knowledge. It's also about creating stories and bringing them to life. During three weeks you slowly take the time to sink in, with no time pressure, just flowing with one's creative mind.

This camp is here for children, young teenagers that are thirsty for a rich and professional creative journey, learning new techniques and building their independent ability to create.
